Thanks must go to everyone who got involved in the 2011 Rainhill Gala for your help to raise over £6,000 for Willowbrook Hospice and local good causes in and around Rainhill. This year's beneficiaries:
Willowbrook Hospice who provide care at times of need in the local community received £3,050;
Rainhill Cricket Club received £250 to help with girls cricket coaching;
Rainhill Old Peoples Welfare provide a meal once per week at their Luncheon Club and we delighted to once again support them with donation of £500 to pay their annual rent bill;
Rainhill Model Railway Club were recently forced from their old premises at Prescot Leisure and it looked like it may be the end of the popular voluntary run organisation, however a donation of £550 helped to secure new premises at St Helens Transport Museum;
Rainhill United and Rainhill Rocket provide football coaching for young people in the Rainhill area and we supported both clubs with a donation of £200;
Rainhill Musical Theatre Company provide a platform for local people to be involved in large scale productions and this year we supported the group with a donation of £400 towards the purchase cost of new audio equipment;
Blackbrook Royals who are a junior rugby club who have been involved with Rainhill Gala for the last two years received £500 to help with fundraising for a trip to take young people to play in America;
The Friends of Jeanette McCulloch were awarded £25 to purchase a trophy to be awarded annually in the name of Rainhill Gala.
Finally, the Gala couldn't take place without the support of the Headteacher, Governors and staff of Rainhill St Ann's CE primary school and we were delighted to this year support a special project of producing a DVD detailing the changes to the school over the years in conjunction with the building work currently taking place at the school. The £500 donation will enable St Ann's to keep the production and sale costs down.
